PWB HOLIDAY SHOW AT THE FAT CAT IN MODESTO
BY MIKE VANEK
Happy New Year I took the week or two off for the holidays but I'm back to kick off 2016 with a bang!!
On December 27th 2015 Pro Wrestling Bushido put on a special show for the family units that support PWB the most. This Free show was a gift to the people that make PWB possible the fans...
This show was great and made history for a certain local tag team. My son James and I walked down to the Fat Cat the Sunday after X mas to go watch wrestling. We arrived to see a full house to see all they're favorite guys... People in the crowd are all regulars and they all have a favorite and that is really cool to see as someone who has followed this promotion since literally day 1.
The show kicked off with regular PWB announcer Shawn Michael Allen
Played some acoustic punk songs ( Really cool) then he announced the guest ring announcer Mr Athletic Jeff Cobb!!
The first match set Young Lions cup winner Will Roberts who is setting himself up to be one of the premier young wrestlers in Nor Cal wrestling vs his female opponent Dezzy D in a mixed gender match.
Young Will obviously didn't know he didn't know he was wrestling a female or something because he began the match asking Dezzy to bow out but she wasn't having any of that she answered repeatedly with swift blows and the match was on and every-time the young Roberts would get the upper hand he would ask her to stay down but she would come back with fierce determination but that wasn't enough as Will Roberts carried out the win...
Match 2 was for the PWB X Fest championship and it matched the champ Scoot Robertson vs Johnny Butabi and his maniacal manager Donovan Troi. This was a fiercely fought battle for one of PWB's most prominent and oldest titles in the promotion. This match was a back & fourth survival of the fittest with each of the combatants giving each other everything they had for the gold with Scoot successfully recapturing the X Fest Title.
The 3rd match pitted the up and comer Fun Size against one of the most exciting wrestlers in Nor Cal Airen Sky!!
This was a match where you can really see the progression of two young wrestlers learning they're craft. I've seen these guys wrestle a lot as of late and they really put it out there!! But the upper hand went to the battle tested Airen Sky who proved his worth as one of the young wrestlers with a passion for the business like few others in the scene as he carried out the victory!! After the match fun size was attacked by the very scary Nathan Rulez who has been terrorizing victims after matches as of late...
Match 4 was Victor Sterling vs the charismatically mean spirited Daniel Torch. The match began with D Torch parading himself around the club and perching himself atop the bar do the crowd could see the PWB TV Champion in full glory. This match was a demonstration of why Daniel Torch has kept the TV Strap match after match... He does what ever it takes to win the match. Poor Victor Sterling could only try but his best try wasn't good enough as Torch snuck away with the win with his feet on the ropes to his advantage without the referee seeing... Once again Torch wins and escaped with the PWB TV Title...
Match 5 began as SMA was singing between matches the spoiled rotten Alexander G Bernard interrupted the song grabbing the mic and declared he was who the crowd came to see and that led to the match with his opponent "Wrestling Personified" Rik Luxery. The totally full of himself Alexander was no match to the ring veteran in Rik Luxery who just out wrestled him and gave him a lesson in the sport of professional wrestling. Needless to say Rik Luxery won the match...
That leads us to one hell of a main event but first we got a visit from Santa Clause for all the kids that came to the family show.
Match 6 was the main event and tag team championship match. At the last PWB show the Thunder League stole the belts after losing to the Honor Society with a our numbered beating to the champs which led to Sir Samurai being carried from the ring.
The honor society returned belt less but still champs. Coming out to their traditional Star Wars theme their counter parts in the Thunder League came out sporting Star Trek flanked by manager The Voice Donovan Troi. This match completes one year of the Honor Society competing every weekend making Nor Cal Wrestling History!! This was thrill packed match full of twists and turns but the Honor Society used the force to pull out the victory even though the Thunder League pulled out every trick in the book even with Scoot Robertson dressed as Santa ringside interfering in the match and Samurai and Frost escaped with the titles!! After the match whiled being berated by Scoot Donovan Troi shocked the Modesto locals when he planted a giant smooch in the mug of one scoot Robertson!! A dramatic end to a world class wrestling show!!
Hats off to Everyone at Pro Wrestling Bushido for capping off one hell of a year!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
